When it comes to running a business or managing your personal finances, keeping on top of tax deadlines is just as important as making the money in the first place. Missing a due date can mean late payment penalties, unnecessary interest, and a whole lot of stress you simply don’t need. The good news? With a clear schedule — and maybe a little help from Any Accounting — you can glide through the year without the last-minute panic.
Here’s your guide to the key UK tax dates for 2026.
Self Assessment Deadlines (Self-Employed, Landlords, and Sole Traders)
If you’re self-employed, a landlord, or need to file a Self Assessment tax return for any other reason, these are the big ones:
- 31 January 2026 – This is the deadline for submitting your online tax return for the 2024/25 tax year. It’s also the deadline to pay any tax you owe for that year and your first payment on account for 2025/26.
- 31 July 2026 – The second payment on account for 2025/26 is due. These advance payments can catch people off guard, so budget for them early.
Corporation Tax Deadlines
If you run a limited company, your Corporation Tax payment is due 9 months and 1 day after the end of your company’s financial year. For example:
- Financial year ends 31 March 2026 → Payment due 1 January 2027.
Remember — your Corporation Tax return (CT600) filing deadline is 12 months after your year end, but the payment deadline is sooner, so don’t confuse the two.
VAT Return Deadlines
If your business is VAT-registered, you’ll normally submit VAT returns every quarter. The deadline is usually:
- 1 month and 7 days after the end of your VAT period.
So, if your VAT quarter ends 31 March 2026, your return and payment are due by 7 May 2026.
PAYE & NIC Deadlines
If you have employees, PAYE and National Insurance contributions must be paid:
- Monthly – By the 22nd of the following month if paying electronically (19th if paying by post).

- Mark the dates in your diary — set reminders at least a week before each due date.
